The Faulkner County Conservation District (FCCD) provides and promotes as many programs as possible to the citizens and landowners of Faulkner County. We are constantly looking and developing new programs. Please visit the links for more information on the individual programs.
Outreach and Education One main objective for all Conservation Districts is outreach and education. FCCD hosts an annual FFA Career Development Event (CDE) for FFA students across Arkansas. The Central Arkansas CDE includes volunteers from the Conservation District, Arkansas FFA, Arkansas NRCS, Farm Credit of Western Arkansas, University of Arkansas Extension Service, the Arkansas Department of Agriculture, and Master Gardeners. Click on this link to see more about the Central Arkansas CDE. FCCD also hosts conferences and field days to educate local producers and landowners about the effects of conservation systems and progressive farm management. Professionals in various fields related to agriculture and wildlife have presented in the past. A large goal for FCCD is to highlight local farmers or producers who a good stewards of their property. We frequently set up field days at these farms to display their management systems and the conservation practices they have installed. Follow this link to read more about FCCD Conferences and Field Days. Damage Management Programs While American beaver can produce significant environmental benefits, they can also create safety hazards and cause significant damage. Beaver activity jeopardizes millions of dollars in transportation infrastructure and can also cause significant damage to timber resources. FCCD helps manage this problem through its partnership with the county and ANRC by providing the Beaver Eradication Program . |
