Who we are:The Faulkner County Conservation District (FCCD) works in partnership with the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) to help local landowners and county residents to put conservation into practice. They recognize that local conservation concerns and projects are beyond the means of a single landowner and help try to bridge the gap. In 1935 the Soil Conservation Service (SCS) was created as an answer to the Dust Bowl. In 1994 the name was changed to Natural Resource Conservation Service. To help link NRCS, then SCS, with local farmers the first Conservation District was formed in 1937. The following year, 1938, FCCD was formed. Today there are nearly 3,000 Conservation Districts nationwide. |
The Conservation District is made up of two halves: A volunteer board of directors and a professional staff. Our main goal is to protect, maintain, and enhance our natural resources for now and future generations and to provide an avenue through which all who are interested may come to identify and solve problems relating to natural resource issues.
We have an public Board meeting every 2nd Tuesday of the month.
